About Us
TX Media was founded in 2003 by husband and wife team Tony Barker and Dawn Estefan. Specialising in broadcast publicity, entertainment and music consultancy and event management, we are an agency that offers expertise in all areas of communications from the strategic planning and implementation of bespoke Broadcast PR Campaigns, right through to the planning of an event from concept to creation. Our understanding of contemporary culture, combined experience and background enables us to provide a unique service where we function as a one stop shop for our clients and offer an in depth understanding of the entertainment business.
Tony Barker has worked in the music industry for some 25 years. Between 1990 and 1999, he was Director of Promotions at Virgin Records, where he oversaw broadcast publicity campaigns for a range of artists including The Spice Girls, Phil Collins,George Michael, Massive Attack, Meatloaf, The Verve and many more.
In 1999 he left Virgin to set up his own promotion company, Outside Media Promotions, in association with print PR specialists, The Outside Organisation.
During his time with Outside Media, he continued to work with major artists such as David Bowie, Blue and Atomic Kitten, as well as all of The Spice Girls solo careers.
Outside Media also developed a strong roster of events for which they handled broadcast publicity, including The Brit Awards and The Mercury Music Prize.
Dawn Estefan has worked in the music industry for over 18 years. Between 1994 – 1997 she trained as an Events and Special Projects Assistant at Poole Edwards PR (now The Outside Organisation) coordinating launches and after show parties for clients such as Prince, Jamiroquai and Mica Paris.
In 1997 she left Poole Edwards to become a partner in Tour Management company 101 Productions working with a range of UK and US artists such as Goldie, Public Enemy, De La Soul, DJ Shadow, Cypress Hill and The Fun Lovin’ Criminals. Following this period Dawn made the natural progression from organising tours to organising events across a broader spectrum, specialising in live music events for TV such as the The Mastercard MOBO Awards circa 2000/2002 to, more recently, The Nokia Urban Music Festival with the Prince's Trust.
In 2003, Tony and Dawn took the decision to form a new company, TX Media, which would marry Tony’s expertise as a broadcast publicist, with that of Dawn's experience in Event management, production and tour management. Now in its 4th year, it has proved to be a partnership that delivers!
TX Media currently works with a range of recording artists, such as Simply Red and Martha Wainwright , music events such as The NME Awards, The Isle of Wight Festival, The Nickelodeon Kids Choice Awards and Fashion Rocks, as well as acting as music consultants for brands such as Nokia and T-Mobile.
